When is the next Apple event in 2021?

next Apple event

Several times a year, Apple holds a special press event to announce a batch of new products. The last significant event was on 10 November 2020, when Apple announced the new generation of M1 Macs. It’s been a few months, and we’re all now wondering when the company will host its next keynote event – and, by extension, when we can expect new Apple products to launch in the Next Apple event 2021.

This article looks ahead to the likely dates and product focus of the Next Apple event 2021. We have the details of when Apple’s WWDC will kick off in 2021, but we also hear rumors about a spring event expected to take place in April 2021.

When is the next Apple event?

According to expectations, the next Apple event to take place in early April 2021, although there was still a slim chance the company would announce one before the end of March. The tech leaker Jon Prosser has been making predictions about specific dates within that timeframe but has twice had to admit he got it wrong – so we’re skeptical about further claims.

In autumn last year, he said an Apple event would be on 16 March 2021, which would see the AirPods Studio launch (launched in December and called the AirPods Max). In early March, he said it would happen on 23 March and shave his eyebrows if he was wrong. The eyebrows were shaved, and he now thinks it will happen in April. We’re not sure what he will be sacrificing if he is wrong again.

So who knows, frankly. Based on past behavior, the next Apple event is highly likely to happen in the spring – and April looks most likely. Apple tends to favor Tuesdays or Wednesdays for such events, so Tuesday 13 or 20 April would be a reasonable guess – but until we hear from a reliable source, a guess will remain.

Will Apple hold the next event in spring 2021?

Prosser expects a spring 2021 event, but does that mean Apple will have one? It’s a reasonable question – Apple doesn’t always hold an event in the spring. But then again, the company made some of its most significant announcements at spring events over the years. Apple held an event called Spring Forward on 9 March 2015, where it announced pricing and the launch date for the original Apple Watch and unveiled the 12in MacBook. Then on 21 March 2016, at the Let Us Loop You In the event, we got the iPhone SE, the iPad Pro 9.7, and iOS 9.3.

Spring 2017 was a bit of a disappointment for Apple followers: instead of a full-blown event, the company quietly closed down its online store then sent out a press release announcing the launch of the iPad 2017 and the red iPhone 7. Then in 2018, Apple held an education-focused event on 27 March at a school in Chicago. The company made a series of announcements. They included a new iPad (with support for Apple Pencil), updates to Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, and GarageBand. Also, talking at length about it for teachers and students.

In 2019 there was an Apple Special Event. There Apple showed off some of the content planned for its Apple TV+ subscription package. The company also, launched the packages later that year. There was no event in 2020, but the company may well have unveiled the launch of the iPhone SE at an event if it wasn’t for the threat of COVID. Now the question is, when will be the next Apple event and where?

What’s Apple going to launch in the next Apple event?

Here’s what you expect to see in spring 2021, whether the company holds the next apple event or not:

New AirPods

Prosser suggested in his October tweet that the event headliner will be AirPods Studio. Prosser was wrong there. The AirPods Max over-ear headphones were launched in December. But other new AirPods were thought to be in the pipeline. We could also see the rumored AirPods Pro-Lite. It was said to sit between the wireless charging standard AirPods and the AirPods Pro, or AirPods 3 – a successor to the standard AirPods.

Airpods Pro

iPad Pro

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is predicting a spring launch for a new iPad Pro. Supply-chain sources cited by DigiTimes also expect a release in the first three months of 2021, and Jon Prosser has put his money on it launching in March specifically. The iPad mini may also get an update – with rumors suggesting it will get a larger screen. By trimming down the bezels, Apple will bump from a 7.9 into an 8.4in screen diagonal. This would be a slight but worthwhile improvement. However, the iPad mini may delay until the autumn.

Apple TV

Now that Apple has its TV+ subscription service. How about a smaller, cheaper Apple TV to go with it? If Apple wants to reach the masses with its service. A dongle that will let them stream new content to their TV sets could be an essential part of the equation.

AirTag

There is a rumor for another Apple product. The beta of iOS 14.5 strongly suggests that Apple will launch some kind of object tracker shortly. This small disc or sticker will apply to keys, wallets, and other essential items. And then be trackable in the Find My app.

Apart from those, there are so many new products that may come to the market in the next Apple event. You can expect products like iMac – with a new design, 14in MacBook Pro, and many more.
