LAS VEGAS, June 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- InfoComm International, the trade association representing the commercial audiovisual industry, adopted a new sustainability policy. The InfoComm Board of Directors approved the policy at their meeting at InfoComm 2012, the audiovisual solutions trade show, being held at the Las Vegas Convention Center June 13-15.
The policy spells out InfoComm's commitment to supporting its members' ability to create, operate and maintain sustainable professional audiovisual environments. It also delineates actions that InfoComm staff and members can take to minimize the impact of their activities on the ecosystem.
"As a leading association and manager of tradeshows, InfoComm International has a responsibility to operate in a manner that minimizes its impact on the environment," said Allen Weidman, InfoComm Sustainability Officer. "By adopting this policy, InfoComm is demonstrating its true commitment to being a leader in the area of sustainability."
As the producer of one of the largest trade shows in the United States, InfoComm recognizes its annual trade show in North America presents many opportunities to minimize the industry's impact on the environment. To that end, InfoComm is working with one of our top vendors, Freeman, to implement this new policy.
"Freeman is making every effort to support and partner with our clients to produce our events in a more sustainable manner, said Joseph V. Popolo, Jr., CEO, Freeman. "With our sustainability tool kit, we are tracking the carbon footprint of several areas of the Show, including our trucks, signage and carpet, with the goal of reducing waste, while diverting as much as possible back into the recycle streams. We have integrated sustainable practices into our day-to-day business, and are proud to partner with InfoComm, a leader in audiovisual and information communication technology, to make InfoComm 2012 a more sustainable show."
